  MUNSYI DEWAN

 

 

INTODUCTION

Munsyi Dewan is a Malay language speaker who is duly appointed and recognised by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) to conduct courses, lectures and briefings on the Malay language in the public and private sectors. This programme started in 1995. The purpose of establishing the Munsyi Dewan is to produce experts on the Malay language to help DBP promote the language in the public and private sectors.

 

ROLE

  • To act as a mentor on language matters to school students and teachers and other language users in their respective districts and areas;
  • To be the expert in resolving issues pertaining to the Malay language;
  • To handle a variety of language activities to improve the quality of teaching and learning Malay; and
  • To assist DBP in implementing various language-related activities.

PRIVILEGES

A Munsyi Dewan enjoys the following benefits:

  • Specialist’s fees;
  • Mileage allowance;
  • Meal allowance;
  • Airfare or its equivalent;
  • Consideration for attending any DBP-organised language-related event without charge or at a rate enjoyed by DBP staff; and
  • 20% discount for purchase of books at any DBP Bookshop, DBP branch and regional offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ETHICS

  • To disseminate DBP-approved information regarding the Malay language;
  • To assist DBP in conducting Malay language courses, lectures and briefings;
  • To maintain constantly the good name of DBP as the Munsyi Dewan is accredited by DBP;
  • Consideration be given to attend any DBP-organised language-related event for free or at a rate enjoyed by DBP staff; and
  • 20% discount for purchase of books at any DBP Bookshop, DBP branch and regional offices.
