The spirit of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka arose from the struggle to uphold Malay as the national language and the official language of Malaysia. This spirit has spurred the corporate culture of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka to develop and produce a workforce responsible for their duties:
